- Multiple codes stored, however the ones turning on the MIL are: 10203 (P030000) – random/multiple cylinder misfire detected, 10596 (P030600) – cylinder 6 misfire, and 10592 (P030200) – cylinder 2 misfire. All misfires occur during cold start and are not currently active, therefore making diagnosis difficult. However, cold start misfires are usually due to carbon build up on the valves. VW also has a Technical Service Bulletin for adding a fuel additive to assist decarbon process. Recommend attempting decarbonization using induction cleaning method (without cylinder head removal), then replace spark plugs, followed by adding fuel additive per VW Technical Service Bulletin.
